How to play Lightning Dice

If you’re wondering how to play Lightning Dice, don’t worry about it, it’s fairly straight-forward.

As you saw above, it’s played with three regular dice with face value from 1 to 6. Your aim is to correctly predict the total sum of all three dice, by placing your bets on any of the bet spots labelled 3 to 18, which correspond to the total sum of all three dice. If your bankroll permits you doing so, you may click or tap the Bet On All button to place a wager on all bet spots. Just make sure the correct chip value is selected (it’ll have a gold ring around it) as that amount will be placed on all bet spots simultaneously.

Lightning Dice Multipliers

Once betting time comes to a close, random Lightning Dice multipliers of up to 1000x are applied when lightning strikes between one and several random Lightning Numbers. Each of these are given a random multiplier and then the game presenter releases the three dice into the Lightning Tower.

The camera then cuts to a close-up of the dice tower for the apparent view of the dice as they come to rest in at the basE. The total of the three dice is visible on-screen and announced by the presenter. If you correctly predicted the total sum of all three dice and that number is among the Lightning Numbers, you’ll win its respective multiplier.

Lightning Dice RTP and Payouts

Now let’s take a closer look at the Lightning Dice payouts and RTPs. For starters, the optimal return to player (RTP) percentage is 96.21%, based on Total 3 or 18 bet.

Payouts can reach as high as 1000x, including your bet should your bet spot have that random multiplier applied to it. If there is no multiplier, then the regular payout is applied and your bet is returned on top of your winnings.

To make things easier for you, we’ve included a Lightning Dice payout table below. You’ll find one within the in-game lobby too (more on this further down) and be able to pin it in place but we’ve found it hindered us from playing Lightning Dice optimally. We recommend playing using two screens – one for the game and one with this payout table.

Without further ado, here are the numbers.

Total 3 or 18149–999 to 1 (1000x)
Total 4 or 1749–499 to 1 (500x)
Total 5 or 1624–249 to 1 (250x)
Total 6 or 1514–99 to 1 (100x)
Total 7 or 149–99 to 1 (100x)
Total 8 or 136–49 to 1 (50x)
Total 9 or 125–49 to 1 (50x)
Total 10 or 114–49 to 1 (50x)
Keep in mind that any malfunction whilst you’re playing will void the round in question including all its eventual payouts.

Can you play Lightning Dice for free?

No, you cannot play Lightning Dice for free but it’s not without good reason. These one-of-a-kind concepts require countless hours of research and development before they reach your screens. Once they do, there are overhead costs to account for including game presenter salaries, lighting and equipment maintenance, not to mention the wages of the people you never even see on screen. That being said, you can still enter the game, take a look around and sit in on a few rounds until you feel confident enough to place your own bets. Don’t feel too proud to do just that, especially with such a new-concept game. It’s what the pro players would do.

Lightning Dice Strategy & Tips

Some casino games, such as blackjack, lend themselves well to meticulous strategies developed by mathematicians and physicists alike. But the results of a dice game like this one are much harder to predict. There may be no one Lightning Dice winning strategy, but let’s share a few tips.

The foundation of playing any game well is doing so within your means. Be honest with yourself, set a reasonable bankroll aside to gamble with and do not exceed this amount, no matter what. Also, be sure not to fall for gambler’s fallacy. Just because a certain multiplier hasn’t hit in a while doesn’t guarantee that it’s up next. The best Lightning Dice strategy you can adopt is playing within your means and enjoying your time on the game.

The tower

The Lightning Dice tower is what the wheel is to roulette – the focal point of the entire game. Sitting atop a platform, it features a funnel-like opening at the top where the dice are dropped into, goes into three maze-like sections that the dice roll through and then comes to an end at the base from which the presenter can pick them up and start a new round all over again. It’s really something.

The environment

The look of the Lightning Dice studio caused us to recall its roulette cousin almost instantly. The whole studio is dark and illuminated by various light structures.

In the centre, you’ll see the transparent tower placed on a podium, as we just described, framed by two lightning cylinders either side of this. Off to the right, there’s the launcher that shoots the three dice through the tower surrounded by various panels that feature intricate lit-up designs. It really fits the theme of the game to a T.

The presenter

Game show live casino allows its presenters to show a bit of personality onset, and luckily, this title is no different.

The dynamic nature of this title calls for an individual who is comfortable moving around the set and interacting with the various elements of it all while keeping players entertained. To begin a new round, the host picks up the dice from the base of the launcher and drops them into the funnel. Then he/she pulls on the lever to the right to apply the multipliers and drop the dice down.

When we joined the table, we were greeted by a friendly, slightly cheesy, “What’s up fam?” uttered by a young, male dressed in a black and gold suit complete with a bow tie. He was friendly, made jokes about the good weather – that is, lightning striking on high multipliers – and answered player questions with enthusiasm throughout our time there.

What it looks like and how it works

Now that you know how to win on Lightning Dice let’s break down what you can do, see and hear on your display.

If you’ve played this game’s predecessor before, you’ll recognise the Lightning Dice interface as a stripped back version of the original. It’s split into two parts: ¾ a video stream and ⅓ a digitally-rendered betting layout.

At the base of the interface, you’ll find the virtual betting area where all the action takes place. It’s a grid that lists all the dice totals you can bet on with respective multipliers beneath these. To the right you’re able to get an overview of the previous 24 round results, various functionalities you’ll find explained below, the option to play up to three other games simultaneously and access to the lobby.

Opposite this, there’s a view of your current casino balance, your total bet, the chat function as well as a stream of each round’s winners. On top of this, you’ll find the original payouts table you saw above with the option to pin it in place. The rest of the controls can be found to the top right including an overview of your account history, game information via the ? icon, three audio and visual settings we’ll touch on shortly and the ability to play in full screen by pressing the last button in that row.

When betting time begins, the virtual betting layout rises as shown. To participate, simply select the correct amount you wish to bet with and click the respective area.

Should you make a mistake, there’s the option to undo your last bet and you can choose to double your next wager if you’ve got a hunch about the next roll. You can also press the Bet On All button if your bankroll permits it. We tested the game on an HP laptop with 1GB download speed WiFi connection and it ran smoothly, just as expected.

Audio and Visuals

Evolution Lightning Dice - 21

The audio and visuals of Evolution Gaming Lightning Dice are what really make the game. Starting with the former, the sound of this game is fully immersive and best heard through noise-cancelling headphones if you can get your hands on a pair.

Each round starts fairly quietly with some game show background music followed by chime sounds when the multipliers are applied to the betting layout. You’ll hear what sounds like a rocket-launch when the host pulls on the lever to send the dice tumbling down the tower. It’s all exactly on-brand.

As you’ve seen, the game is set in one of the coolest studio sets this provider has built to-date. A multi-camera installation captures the action from all angles so you take it all in the wide shot, but catch the finer details of the set in the close-ups and witness the dice come to rest at the base of the tower.

There are two viewing modes on PC named Fullscreen HD and classic mode. The former is the view you saw described above while the latter is suited to poorer connections as the stream is smaller and provides a fuller view of the chat and further game statistics. As with other titles from this provider, you may set the quality to either medium, high or HD, according to what best suits your Internet speed.

Mobile and Desktop

The UI is perfectly adapted to take advantage of each handset’s capabilities while image quality is assured, too, through HTML5 built-in native video support.

On mobile, the game plays in both landscape or portrait mode, switching automatically between when the Player Orientation Lock is turned off on the phone while it’s optimised for landscape orientation on tablet.
