French Roulette Gold

Evolution Gaming is one, if not the biggest casino provider in the industry. So when hearing a name like French Roulette Gold, we as live table game afficionados must ask - what’s behind the apparently very popular roulette variant? Of course the La Partage rule could be the deciding factor, but what else can we expect? Read our review at LiveCasino.com to find out.

THE TABLES AND ENVIRONMENT

When it comes to this specific table, the La Partage ruleset is clearly the star of the show. But what does La Partage even mean? It roughly translates to “divide” or “share” and simply put, this rule gives you the chance of getting half of your bet back, when betting on even odds. That does reduce the house edge when playing, making this table an especially attractive one. The clear betting layout is sat on a vibrant red table that looks quite stunning, it is however superimposed - which means it’s not real. An effort has been made to give this roulette table a touch of “class” with French imprints, which could potentially take a little getting used to. The background or backdrop of the whole setup is a real room though and Evolution has done a fantastic job of combining the two into one cohesive picture. Well done! Speaking about the overall picture - the environment emits a cosy classy feel, with warm colors that makes for a nice casino ambience. There’s a good view with nice angles on that room too, with a feeling of depth that makes everything come together quite nicely.

INTERFACE AND USER EXPERIENCE

Live table games do have croupiers to deal the cards, yes - but the level of interactivity doesn’t stop there. A good user interface is needed, to give the player the tools he needs to enjoy and focus completely on the game. How does Evolutions standard interface come into play and how does it feel on the different devices? Let’s find out.

desktop

First, let’s see how the interface on desktop is build up. The settings can be found in the top right with winning numbers in a strip running down from it. This bar is expandable, with different overlays depending on what exactly you wish to see, which makes this table feel pretty in-depth. Winning numbers and the chips are shown in the bottom middle, disappearing after each other with one smooth animation - clever usage of screen space! The interface is highly customizable, true but if you have played other Evolution Gaming tables such as , you will find yourself right at home. It is non-obtrusive and very pragmatic, but is it maybe lacking in style a little bit? That maybe comes down to personal taste.

MOBILE

The mobile version is a completely different ballgame though, in quite an interesting way. You can toggle either the stream or the betting layout - not both, which is something to keep in mind when playing. In stark contrast to the table on desktop, this is now a real table! We’re not quite sure why that is, but it fits right in with the overall UI of the smaller counterpart. The background stays the same, but the user interface seems less aesthetic, more practical, and placing bets is a breeze here. Sure, it’s not as pretty to look at but you definitely will have a more intuitive way of placing your bets. The automatic switch between the layout and the stream immediately after bets are closed is a neat touch we’d like to see more often.

OVERVIEW

Okay, so here we have it - it’s quite easy to make out which device to use, depending on what kind of a player you are. Do you prefer a little more style? Play on desktop. Do you like intuitive controls and are more of the pragmatic type? Use your smartphone. Racetracks are easily accessible and you will find a more practical form of placing bets with this interface. Whatever you might choose though, the standard Evo interface will be your companion.

AUDIO AND VISUALS

What strikes your eye first when you open a roulette table? Is it the HD graphics, the crisp frames and smooth streams? Or do you focus on the sounds, the background music and friendly chatter of the croupiers? Evolution are masters of visual appeal, there’s no doubt about that, and it’s shown in this table too. The visual quality is adjustable from low to HD, depending on your internet connection, with even medium giving you a crisp enough picture without sacrificing the streaming quality. It has to be noted that HD is not available on a smartphone though. When it comes to the sounds, this one is a mixed bag. The dealer’s voice was near inaudible compared to the other sounds and a muffled background noise could be heard - very distracting! There is nothing really to say about every other sound, since this table has no background music and the familiar clank of the roulette ball is audible enough. Again playing into the limited options on mobile, the volume can not be adjusted on that one. In our test we found the audio quality could not keep up with the visual part of this Roulette Gold table. This really is a missed opportunity for Evolution, since a complete package would really make this one of the best roulettes out there. We’ll see what the company has in store for us in the near or far future.

OUR VERDICT

Let’s cut to the chase straight away - this IS one of the better, more quality roulette tables out there. Boom. It has HD graphics, a good stream and the La Partage rule is something to look forward to. We have a few complaints, such as the sounds that could definitely be improved, but other than that you’re in for a good time with this Evolution Gaming French Roulette Gold table.
