bwin Live Casino Review

Any online casino that alludes to striking gold at their tables can’t help but intrigue us.

Beyond the perhaps gimmicky name, they stock Evolution Gaming titles, over thirty payment methods to support your wagers and a tiered VIP programme that rewards them. This is rounded off by a fresh look at responsible gaming and around-the-clock customer support team.  Find out what else makes this operator one to try in our bwin casino review.

This casino was initially reviewed in November 2018.

What makes bwin live casino standout

bwin live casino brings just under 100 games from the industry’s leading game provider – Evolution Gaming. They supply a range of blackjack, roulette, baccarat and poker live tables including game show title such as Dream Catcher. In addition to their standard offering, there are also bespoke bwin live casino tables where dealers deal, spin and entertain wearing and surrounded by their colours (more on this later).

Once you find a title you enjoy playing, you’ll be able to add it to your favourites with a recommendation of games you may also like too – even if their suggestions may be a little off. We’re a sucker for NetEnt’s Guns n’ Roses slot but some of the other casino games didn’t seem to follow on from the thrill of Lightning Roulette. The lobby itself leave some things to be desired such as the inclusion of game stats and info on the tiles and how to play guides that others have created. Until they make improvements in this regard, take a look at our game guides for more than enough tips and tricks.

bwin bonuses

The bwin welcome offer you receive on registration will differ according to where you sign up from. These may include deposit matches, a bwin no deposit bonus or free spins, but rest assured that each one has been carefully thought out with the playing habits of people from wherever you’re based in mind.

A list of accepted, active, waiting and new bonuses can easily be viewed on the My Current Bonuses tab. At the time of writing, we came across two bwin promotions featuring live dealer tables. Their premise was that wagers during a specific time, on a particular table(s) could award participants cash and bonus prizes. We’re sure that others come around regularly, and when they do, you can keep tabs on them here. Another way to bag yourself a bwin casino bonus is to participate in b’friends, this operator’s refer-a-friend bonus system. This scheme rewards both the referer and the referee with extra funds once your friend deposits, so it’s a win-win for both parties.

bwin VIP players

Players are automatically enrolled into the bwin VIP programme as soon as they activate their account. Everyone starts out as what they call a Green Member and can work their way up to White and Yellow status by collecting points through performing different activities such as wagering and participating in campaigns. Once enough points have been accumulated, players can choose to exchange these for bonuses, receive free SMS notifications and potentially get their own personal account manager down the line. While this isn’t the most thorough or well-explained loyalty scheme we’ve come across, we do appreciate that one exists in the first place. It just needs some fine-tuning.

Appearance and Design

Enter bwin online casino and you’ll be greeted with familiar (albeit too familiar) colours and layout. Don’t let us put you off. We’re not criticising it, just simply pointing out that we’ve seen it before. Its main shades are black and blue that are accented with a contrasting bright yellow on buttons and parts of the site that are meant to catch your attention. We loaded up our Dell laptop and Samsung S9 to see how the finer parts look and fit in together.

bwin Website

Desktop Website

As we mentioned, is very conventional in its layout. Load the site, and you’ll see the standard top navigation bar with access to the seven main product categories that are further subdivided beneath this. Each category page follows a similar structure with a banner to showcase the latest promotions, events and new game releases. The Live Casino page features the usual game tiles in different sizes to indicate which of these they’re showcasing. As we hinted at earlier, they fall short in including statistics which many others are making the effort to add as of late. Static pages such as their About and FAQ pages are mostly well-laid out with headings and visual elements that make each page more interesting.

Mobile Website

bwin mobile casino is far more visually appealing. The colours remain consistent, of course, but the overall structure and layout looks more refined somehow. Icons for each product page add a nice touch while the tiles look far sharper against the white background. Areas such as Transactions and FAQs appear as though they were designed with a smartphone-first approach too.

Technology and Functionality

bwin claims to be “the world’s leading name in online betting and real money gaming”, and while we cannot say we fully agree with such a statement, it did spark curiosity within us. A large part of being able to hold stake to this claim is how the technology that makes it all work supports this. So, we loaded up those same devices to put this aspect of the operator under the microscope.

Desktop Website

As we described in the visual sections, all parts appear in conventional areas which makes navigating the site quite intuitive. Every product vertical includes a search bar to take you to exactly what you’re looking for. Being honest, there wasn’t too much that stood out for us to comment on, so we began considering other operators we’ve played with previously to draw comparisons. The first thing we thought of was the fact that the main Nav bar at the top does not remain fixed as you scroll through the page. It’s not a huge drawback, but we think that it remaining fixed would aid usability around the site. Another noticeably absent feature was a real-time stream of the latest winners. We’ve found that keeping an eye on the usernames and win amounts helps us know who to bet behind on the blackjack tables so it would be nice to see that added too.

Mobile Website

The first thing we’ll comment is the fact that the Nav menu remains fixed on the mobile version of even though the screen is a smaller size. This made it far easier to switch between the different areas of the site. We have to admit, however, that doing so was sometimes a bit slow and the placement of this would probably be better suited as a thumb nav.

The typical hamburger menu appears at the top right to allow you to delve even further into the different parts of the account. A better game filtering system could be adopted too, especially for live dealer games. All in all, it works well but it’s a bit rough around the edges.

bwin casino Apps

bwin apps for Apple and Android are available to download from their respective app store and as an APK. In our review location, however, we were restricted to using the mobile site but can confirm that it looks the same based on the images we’ve seen. However, if you have any first-hand experience using their app, let us know at

Deposit and Withdrawals

Once you’re ready to become a depositing player, you’ll find a myriad of payment options available to you, depending on the region you’re playing from, which you’ll find in the Facts box above.

Bets may be placed in the following currencies – EUR, CHF, USD, GBP, DKK, SEK, NOK, PLN, CZK, HUF, YTL, HRK, RON, RUB, EEK, LVL, LTL, BGN – by adding funds to your account using the yellow Deposit tab. From there, you’re able to see each methods minimum and maximum deposit, if any fees are charged and whether it’s available as a bwin withdrawal method.

This information is so vast and varied in the amount of detail presented that we thought it best not to overwhelm you with a 36×8 table. Minimum deposits start at €10 and can go up to €10,000, whilst the min withdrawal amount for Fast Bank Transfer remains €10 and the max withdrawal reaches €70,000. Our recommendation is to consider the money you can allocate to gambling, and choose the payment method that suits that best.

For the record both the deposit and withdrawal pages are straight to the point and easy to use, however, we’d like to bring your attention to some standout features. Your account overview is similar to a bank statement and part of the bwin sign up process involves setting a reply to a security question that will be asked every time you request to cash out your winnings. The latter is just one of the ways in which this operator adopts the same technical security and procedural standards that any bank would.

Customer support

bwin customer support is accessible 24/7 through four main channels – live chat, email, telephone and a highly informative FAQ area. We were curious about how their loyalty is rewarded so we contacted an agent at around 10am on instant chat. We got through to a representative almost immediately and our questions were replied to promptly. Our only gripe with this part of the site is that the FAQ area could be structured better and more user-friendly. The information is there, it simply could be presented in a more appealing manner.

Licensing, Security and Fairness

This operator understands that security is an obligation of the service they provide and the transparency of this aspect of bwin is impressive. For starters, they are licensed by the Gibraltar Regulatory Authority and ElectraWorks Ltd (the parent company) is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission.

They’re a member of the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA), a group whose responsibility is to ensure that its members are compliant with over 160 player protection criteria which operators are audited against annually by an independent examiner. They’re also a member of ESSA, which is the sports equivalent of the aforementioned organisation. They’re in possession of eCORGA seal of approval and use iTech Labs to ensure the fairness of their games.

Responsible gaming

bwin responsible gaming is centred around three pillars – reliability, dedication and help – and it’s discussed on site under five main headings. Let’s go through them.

They set out three basic principles which they hold themselves to including fairness and security (which we touched on above) and prevention which we’ll cover next. In collaboration with the Division on Addiction, Cambridge Health Alliance, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, this operator includes a BBGS e-Screener (developed based on psychiatric analysis) to help players assess their gambling habits and detect the early stages of problem gambling. They also advertise the site Health-E Gambling which offers in-depth information and tools related to the subject. On the website, you’re able to set a daily, weekly or monthly deposit limit or close your account if you feel it’s for the best.

We would prefer if these tools were more readily accessible as they’re currently buried beneath the Advanced Settings area behind My Account. There’s also a direct contact to the team via
