NetEnt Live Common Draw Blackjack Review

NetEnt Live Common Draw Blackjack is an innovative community-take on the classic twenty-one table. Played with a single hand, this game has done away with the standard seven seats to offer a limitless place to play. The conventional rules apply here so it’s entertaining for novices and pros alike. But is this faster felt really better and if so, how? Find out in our Live Common Draw Blackjack review.

This casino game was initially reviewed in October 2017.

Why play NetEnt 's Live Common Draw Blackjack

NetEnt Live Common Draw Blackjack certainly deserves the recognition it has received. It’s a fast game with a solid stream and an unlimited number of seats. You may forget this while you’re choosing your chips but the statistics on how other players wager will remind you of this. It’s that subtle sense of community that makes this blackjack table different to the others that have come before. Unfortunately, these stats do take up plenty of screen space and the option to toggle these would be much appreciated. If they add one, we’ll be the first to tell you at but in the meantime, nothing beats a permanently available seat in NetEnt Live Common Draw Blackjack!

The tables and environment

Streamed from their studios situated in Malta, this NetEnt Live table benefits from a polished and professional look. The betting layout is split in two – the players’ area in the foreground and the dealer’s one behind this. These are placed close together for easy comparison, but it’s clear which side is yours and which belongs to the house. A black dealing shoe, containing six shuffled decks is on the croupier’s left. Information on game rules and payouts are displayed over the felt in bright, white lettering. The surface serves its purpose well however appears slightly artificial and extends out of shot.

This provider’s use of 3D customisable backdrops, means your gaming experience at each operator will be unique. Some feature a casino-style sitting area with red carpet, a sofa and glass walls whereas others have a fairly uncluttered background. Your live dealer, wearing smart black attire, sits at the centre of the table just in front of the single player space that’s shared by all who access the game. Despite this simple view, you’re still able to view how other player’s bet. Overall, the studio is nicely lit without being too bright, creating an intimate environment.

Interface and user experience

NetEnt Live’s customer-driven approach has a wide-influence and their research reveals that customers play on a multitude of different devices. But how does the interface differ and what affect does this have on the user experience?

The look of NetEnt Live Common Draw Blackjack is very structured. The interface is filled with the standard area you’d expect to see with this provider. At the top left you’ll see the game name, the dealer’s name, minimum and maximum bet amounts as well any your current balance information. Below this you’ll find a chat window. Opposite this area, you’ll see four sections showing game statistics and information on how others are betting. Although all this information is handy to have, we’d like to be given the ability to hide and unhide these all boxes like we can in Extreme Live Gaming tables. Additional game controls to adjust game settings and access a guide on how to play NetEnt Live Common Draw Blackjack appear to the base of the screen.

As with its other titles, mobile NetEnt Live Common Draw Blackjack is available on both portrait and landscape mode. The latter is where you want to play as you’ll get a better feel for the entire environment. During betting time, the stream is sacrificed slightly as the chips rise from the base of screen and cut-off the top of the video. We’d prefer to see an overlay of the chips instead. A digital view of the shared hand you’re betting is also shown as sometimes it isn’t entirely clear on the table. There’s a good presentation of wins on smartphone and notification pop ups are used to advise you of betting times as well as when someone writes in the chat window. However, if you do want to take part in the conversation, the chat window will cover your entire screen. The menu icon, at the top left, can be used to access the paytable, game rules, round history and lobby with ease.

Overall this communal twenty-one table has plenty of similarities on the testing devices we used. Our ultimate preference, however, is mobile in landscape mode. While you may lose a look at stats of the last 10 hand but you’re still able to see how other players bet. What’s nice here is that this view of the other’s wagers appears as a pop-up, enhancing a sense of community. If you don’t mind not being able to see how every other player is betting, then give our recommendation a go.

Audio and visuals

To complement the chic set-up of Live Common Draw Blackjack, NetEnt Live plays an uptempo tune. You’ll have to listen closely as the music’s hard to make out over sounds from out-of-frame tables. This constant murmur of sounds doesn’t quite suit the secluded casino background. You can adjust the background music, sound effects and live casino sounds by clicking the cog icon. Although the dealer’s voice is quite clear, increasing its volume also highers the casino, which we’d prefer to see as separate controls.

As we mentioned earlier, the visual elements of this table are quite appealing. Playing on mobile is brilliant but the different game elements that appear on either side of the screen should be able to be switched on or off. The stream is superb with the option to adjust it between high, medium and low settings as suited to your internet connection. In-game overlays such as “Place your bets, please” and other announcements appear quite clearly and nice win pop-up appears on mobile.
