Extreme Live Gaming Blackjack Review

This game is currently unavailable to play.

If you’re after an intimate game of twenty-one, look no further than Extreme Live Gaming Blackjack. Set in a dimly-lit studio, this live card game creates a cosy experience on any screen. The single-camera angle, showing a wide-view of the dealer, will make it seem as though you’re actually sat opposite your host, especially if you pick the middle seat. Find out more about how this felt functions in our Live Blackjack review.

This casino game was initially reviewed in October 2017.

Why play Extreme Live Gaming's Blackjack?

Extreme Live Gaming Blackjack is a solid twenty-one experience that certainly pleases. Its dark environment caused feelings of uncertainty on entry however our opinion shifted after a few rounds. Overall, the user interface is simple to use but a few alterations to the functions’ placements, such as the Bet Behind button, wouldn’t go amiss. The dealers are pleasant and professional too. So, if you’re looking for well-executed yet elegant twenty-one that suits an on-the-go casino player to a tee, this is the one for you. And should they lower the background noise, or make any other improvements, we’ll be the first to tell you at LiveCasino.com.

The tables and environment

Live Blackjack by Extreme is held in a secluded environment where the table takes centre stage. Coloured in a deep burgundy hue and enclosed by a polished wood border, this surface emulates that of an upscale land-based casino. Text explaining how blackjack and insurance pay are printed on the fabric in white while rules on when the dealer should stand and draw appear in orange. The cards themselves come with classic red or blue backs with large, clear numbers that are easily visible on screen. To the right you’ll see the dealing shoe while the discard rack appears on the left.

The overall look of this live casino game is quite dark, which enhances its sense of exclusivity. A fixed camera captures a straight-on shot of your live dealer with a view of the faint, black and grey filigree wallpaper behind him or her. A spotlight over the table will help you maintain your focus. Male croupiers wear a standard tux while females don a black dress with a vivid red Extreme X emblem over the front. Unfortunately, the dealer does not always look directly into the lens but does make traditional hand gestures throughout. You’ll hear a hushed hum of neighbouring tables, but none are visible in the background, enhancing that one-on-one gaming experience.

Interface and user experience

As with other Extreme Live Gaming tables, the interface is intuitive and simple to navigate. You’ll find all the conventional functions at your fingertips, but what else is there? Are there any differences between desktop and mobile? Read on to find out.

Most live table games are far-clearer on desktop and this one is no exception. As mentioned earlier, the central focus is on the felt with most game controls appearing discreetly, albeit slightly too small, to the left of your screen. Starting from the top, there’s an icon to switch to fullscreen, a film strip symbol to adjust the video quality, a camera icon to switch the stream on or off and a speaker icon to turn the sound on or off. Just to the right of these, there’s a grey arrow that will toggle information on bets and their payouts open or closed. Further functions may be found to the lower left. Buttons that confirm how bet behind works and game information can be accessed via the circular and ? icons, respectively. At the top right you’ll find the chat window. Overall, the interface here is clean with only some small alterations needed, such as to the bet behind button, to make it more intuitive.

Mobile Live Blackjack works just as well as its PC counterpart. Playable in both landscape and portrait mode, this card game seems like it was designed with modern casino players in mind. Let’s start with portrait mode – our undisputed favourite. Here your display is split into two: the live stream at the top and a digital view of how all seated players bet beneath this. This not only adds to the exclusivity but allows you to keep track of the hand you receive as well as other players’. It’s also easier to bet behind but, as with most providers, the chat window does cover the entire screen. This is something we look forward to the industry improving as a whole.

Quite surprising, our preference lies with playing Extreme Live Blackjack on mobile. The interface is well-laid out, especially in portrait mode. If you’ve got a good smartphone on your hands, swipe into in for far superior quality. We’d like to see a more intuitive bet behind feature and larger chip placement area but despite that, the croupier experience is consistent on any device.

Audio and visuals

The stream of the live dealer comes in crisp on mobile devices, but slightly less so on desktop where you’ll able to switch between low and high quality using the film strip icon, as suited to your internet connection. Unfortunately, we did experience a slight delay between the audio and the view of the dealer when testing the table on a One Plus 3T but this was minimal. There was no lagging on PC which was likely due to a more stable connection. The game is broadcast using a single lens which is more than enough to capture all you need to see.

The visuals extend the sense of seclusion we touched on earlier but you’ll still hear the murmur of other games including the sharp clinking of the roulette ball across the drum. This may bother some players however such sounds are almost comforting to us. The audio quality of Blackjack by Extreme Live Gaming is distinct. You’ll hear the cards flick and slide across the surface and the dealer’s voice is calm but clear enough to understand his or her guidance. If you prefer, you may switch the sound on or off by clicking, or tapping, the speaker icon.
